James 1.6 on the internet!

Thought dump while I figure this out

1/7/25 I suppose mimicry is the best form of learning something from scratch. We do it as children constantly. We spit and slur sounds. We contort our mouths and tongues in strange ways to us at the time. We look to those around us and do what they do, even if we fail. Eventually we get better. There is no day we suddenly get it. That is not to say there are no victories. First words, then phrases, then sentences. These are all massive achievements for each tiny predecessor to us today. This may be just me but I feel that often pride is the killer of this messy learning stage. To learn something from absolute scratch, at first we must mimic it to some degree. Capitalism tries desperately to rob us of joy, time and human connection. The embarrassment of being bad at something new is compounded by the deafening sound of the clock. If what you attempted to do failed, did you use what little free time you have most effectively? It is easy to consume, it is important to hone taste and experience other people's works but that is no substitution to creation. This is all to say in a very messy way is I want to create something. I have failed myself a lot. I have sabotaged myself a lot by not just doing the thing I want to do. Maladaptively I daydream that one day I will be ok at what I set out upon but I do not progress or share anything. I seek to end that. My name is James and welcome to my website. My digital exercise in learning, sharing and hopefully making friends.
